Policy

Streamline planning approvals for strata developments that meet good design standards in well-located areas

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Streamlining approvals means getting rid of red and green bureaucratic tape, which slows productivity and increases costs. People need homes now, not plans which get delayed and keep high paid and underdelivering bureaucrats in a job.

Policy

Establish a fund to purchase land for housing and underwrite apartment construction projects

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Australia should have a sovereign wealth fund like other nations. If the federal government won't do it, South Australia should.

Policy

Build more social housing to reduce the public housing waitlist and plan for future demand

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: There has been no planning for the future. Public infrastructure and services have been left to buckle under the weight of increased demand with no investment.

Cap rent increases in line with CPI

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: This seems logical.

Remove stamp duty for eligible first homebuyers on existing homes and older South Australians downsizing to smaller homes

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Stamp duty needs to be removed entirely, for everybody. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=122152517384738864&set=pcb.122152517414738864: "Less taxes"

Prohibit new residential gas connections from a specified date

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Our focus should be on affordable and reliable power. Using a mix of energy sources to provide reliable and cheap power to lower cost-of-living pressures on household and business budgets. Lower power prices will lead to growing industries, as manufacturing and farming/agriculture become more affordable.

Introduce measures such as grants to encourage landlords to install solar panels on rental properties

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Perhaps a tax concession, but I do not support grants which will push up the price of supply once suppliers start to see the increase in customers.

Policy

Set minimum energy efficiency standards for rental properties (covering heating, cooling, hot water, shower heads, ceiling insulation and draughtproofing) from a specified date

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: This makes sense, we should have good quality homes which are built fit for purpose. Having higher quality homes will lead to increased standard of living, but I do not want to see these energy efficiency standards increasing to cost of the property. For example: it may cost more for the higher quality products, but I don't want accreditation costs to be passed onto customers.

Policy

Establish a fund to support more strata properties to connect to shared solar panel and battery systems, Virtual Power Plants and solar gardens

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: The pursuit of unreliable and intermittent power sources should largely be left to private enterprise. Tax payers should not be asked to pick up the tab for projects aimed at defeating climate change. If these renewable sources were as good as we're told - private enterprise wouldn't be propped up almost entirely by tax payers.

Increase investment in green spaces, prioritising high-risk communities

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: This is important for farmers and those in the agriculture sector. Our growers and producers are already on the backfoot due to environmental restrictions - often they are encouraged to sell their water licences so that they can pay their bills. This reduces the size of their saleable commodities which pushes prices up for customers.

Establish clear, coordinated responsibilities across departments and agencies for preparing and responding to climate-related disasters (such as algal blooms, heatwaves, bushfires, flooding and droughts) and increase long-term multi-year funding for these activities

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Over the many natural disasters that Australia has faced in recent decades - charity groups have made millions of dollars in profit. Having important things like backburning be banned due to some environmental concern places whole communities in utter peril. https://www.facebook.com/61572165932108/posts/ignore-labor-like-they-have-ignored-us-they-are-not-seriousthey-whole-heartedly-/122149163474738864/: "Ignore Labor like they have ignored us. Expand fully protected zones and increase investment in acquiring and restoring high biodiversity land, freshwater and ocean ecosystems to protect under the National Parks and Wildlife Act

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: It's important we maintain natural environments even in urban areas.

Introduce a levy on plastic waste to encourage manufacturers to find alternatives and reduce waste generation

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: This is insane. Just about every single item at a supermarket - even fruit - comes wrapped in plastic, yet at the checkout customers are left paying for a flimsy paper bag which will drop its guts before you make it to the car.

Increase funding for childcare services to build new centres and expand existing centres

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Raising a child should be the job of parents, not the government. I want families to stay together for as long as they can, not be sent away so that government officials can raise children. With birth rates declining, I don't see it as being fair that costs associated with child rearing fall onto tax payers shoulders'.

Invest in inclusive school facilities for students with autism and provide extra support services (such as psychologists and speech pathologists) for students experiencing disadvantage

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Every child's learning needs are different, and a learning environment such as a school should be able to cater to those needs. I believe in having increased funding for SSOs for a range of reasons, including reducing teacher workload, and improving educational and behavioural outcomes. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=122155742210738864&set=a.122097871742738864: "So having more Student Support Officers, greater autonomy of teaching staff, and less politics in the classroom will naturally lead to investment in morale, outcomes, infrastructure and of course producing more resilient and capable young adults."

Invest in more apprenticeships, university scholarships, upskilling courses and technical colleges to support students to pursue skilled careers

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Yes to all of those except for university scholarships. Universities don't produce critical thinkers, they are indoctrination factories with set criteria and outcomes that students must adhere to in order to pass. Too many people acquire university degrees then go onto unemployment or are employed in a sector different to what they studied in.

Fully cover all public school costs for families including materials and services charges and fees for extracurricular activities during school hours

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: I support increasing funding for public schools so that kids can have good experiences and an education regardless of their parents income. Kids shouldn't have to miss out just because of what family they were born into.

Policy

Increase funding for infrastructure upgrades at schools, preschools and childcare centres

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: The better investment would be in the teachers, the staff and the leadership team. Teachers don't quit the profession due to out dated classrooms - they leave because of toxic workplace cultures and underappreciation.

Policy

Commit to 100% renewable energy generation, increase investment in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, and implement measures to ensure responsible delivery (such as benefit sharing guidelines and payment schemes)

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: I only support cheap and reliable power. I do not support any projects that would ruin our energy independence, increase our cost-of-living or threaten our industries and manufacturers.

Phase out subsidies for fossil fuel companies

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: We should be making it easier for Australians to power their homes and their businesses. I encourage any combination of power sources that will lower power prices and attract investment by way of manufacturing and business. We do however need to tax our natural resources appropriately so that we are not ripping ourselves off or threatening our sovereignty.

Strengthen state planning and environment laws to stop new gas approvals and expansions

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Gas is a proven quantity. Having more gas has been proven to lower power prices. We need to focus on cheap and reliable power, and what works. Not banning what works on an intermittent and expensive unreliable gamble.

Expand the remit of Preventative Health SA and increase funding for its programs

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Prevention is better than cure, however in the eyes of healthcare - a patient cured is a customer lost. We must stand up against big pharmaceutical companies and address preventable issues before the need for patients to become dependent.

Protect South Australia’s current abortion laws and continue to treat abortion as a healthcare service

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: My body my choice should apply to every person and in every circumstance. I support bodily autonomy and personal freedoms such as choice to vaccinate, access to end-of-life euthanasia and abortion. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1229450589056131: "Abortion is a deeply personal topic and the less involvement politicians have, the better a woman is able to make decisions regarding her future."

Provide rebates for pre-IVF fertility testing and fertility treatments

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: With the decline in Australia's birth rate, I think couples should be afforded some support should they meet certain criteria. I would like one or both parents to be working and have been working for at least five years, for example.

Increase investment in road maintenance to address South Australia’s increasing backlog

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: We all deserve roads that move us safely. We are all reliant on car-worthy roads to get us to our destination safely. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=122155206980738864&set=a.122097871742738864: "Our region has been growing for decades, and our roads have not had the long-term investment that we deserve. Increase investment in active transport infrastructure to deliver on South Australia’s Walking Strategy and Cycling Strategy

Increase funding for evidence-based early intervention and community support programs

Raise the minimum age of criminal responsibility to 14

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Children know right from wrong from a very early age. If they have not faced adequate consequences for their behaviour at a young age, they do not deserve to keep offending at an older age. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=122152517384738864&set=pcb.122152517414738864: "Tough on crime"

Provide grants to businesses and councils for security measures such as CCTV, alarm and intercom systems, lighting, fences and gates

Evidence
Response to Build a Ballot SA 2026: Punishments should already be in line with community expectations, and offenders need to be made examples of. Businesses and tax payers should not have to pay extra to secure their assets because magistrates keep letting offenders off. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=122152517384738864&set=pcb.122152517414738864: "Tough on crime"
