Privacy Policy

TLDR

When you use our Build a Ballot tool and website, we may collect some information about you. This includes…

  • Your name and email address
  • Your ‘political opinions’
  • Your postcode
  • Information about how you interacted with our website and tool

When using the Build a Ballot tool, you don’t need to provide any personal, identifiable information (eg. name or email address). You have the option to add an email address to send your ballot to yourself, but you can always take a screenshot if you prefer.

We collect this information through…

  • Forms and tool interactions: if you write something in a form and click submit? We get that information (almost like, that’s the point). Similarly, when you use our Build a Ballot tool, we collect some information about your voting and political preferences.
  • Google Analytics: this stores information such as your IP address and what you did while you were on the website (like what pages you visited, not what you were eating while you scrolled)
  • Meta Pixel: similar to Google, this will track information such as your IP address. This may also link to other information Meta has about you, which is why you could get ads from us in the future and think ‘are they tracking me across the internet?’. Basically, we are. But in a way that just really cares about you making informed voting decisions.

What we do with this information…

  • Send you stuff: if you sign up to a mailing list, we’ll send you some emails. You can always unsubscribe by clicking the link at the bottom of any email we’ll send.
  • Tailor your voting recommendations: we use the information you submit through the Build a Ballot tool questionnaire to provide you with a ‘match score’ and voting recommendations.
  • Tailor advertising: basically if you visit our website, we might create an ad targeted towards you that says ‘please come back (and plan your vote)’ - we’re super clingy like that
  • Share aggregated insights: we’ll share some de-identified, statistical information about what issues are most popular with Australian voters

Your privacy is super important to us and we have taken steps to ensure that no one can get access to the information you provide. Any information we collect will only be used for the purposes above and definitely will not be shared, sold, or disclosed to any third parties (except as required by law). Your secrets (data) are safe with us xx

Ok now the boring version
